Stand up for yourself, Gaurav
However, as a human being, he too is not above shedding responsibilities at times and running on emotional fuel. Today, he wrote about losing respect for Greg Chappell, the coach of Indian cricket team. Why? Not because he gave the Kolkata crowd a mid-finger salute, but because he apparently denied having done so! Gaurav is seething against Greg; his over-boil has poured all over his post today.
He writes; “I think Chappell was well within his rights to show the crowd a finger. After all he was being boo-ed and heckled. If booing and heckling is a valid form of expression, why isn't that gesture acceptable? I see nothing wrong with it.” He further writes; “Stand up for yourself, Greg. The crowd deserved a finger. It got what it deserved.”
I guess what he meant was that if the obscene gesture was made towards him he wouldn’t have minded it if he showed his frustration by booing a dismal entertainer for whom he paid to watch perform. Maybe if Greg dropped his pants and flashed his penis, only then Gaurav would have taken offence.
It is unbelievable that someone who quit his job taking a principled stand on an issue is ranting spinelessly in the fashion he is now. For his thoughts on this, Gaurav Sabnis deserves a middle finger; Greg’s middle-finger shoved deep inside him. Reason? Greg’s middle-finger was not targeted on somebody particular but at the general Indian fan. If Gaurav liked it so much, he must not object to this too, right Gaurav?
